Quelques Activités (more to come as I get time to upload them)
1. Surtout pour les débutants - - Description
Make sufficient class sets of the illustrations in jpg form which are attached here (copied from notecards I purchased) and cut them apart. (You will need to right click on each illustration and save it before printing.)Then follow the instructions here:
2. Listening - Les Princesses sur mp3 (accompanying handouts to come later)
4. a. Using this handout, read the "proverbs" and discuss/do the activities (associated with some, not all of them).Note that the proverbs are given in three languages - French, Spanish, and German - because this book is available in all these languages -plus, more recently - English.)
b. Explain/illustrate your understanding of the "proverbs" concerning the Princesses in your own, creative way. You might, for example, invent and act out scenarios involving the princesses (or other characters, including yourself.)
5. Watch video clips and read articles about the royal weddings in summer 2011 . Do princesses Kate and Charlene fit the descriptions of any of the princesses in this book? If so, how? If not, invent your own description for each, and illustrate them, or find a princess from a well known fairy tale that best illustrates them, and explain how/why. (les contes de fées ). Hold a debate about whether "fairy tale weddings/marriages" really exist.
6.. Research the life and activities of another real life, modern princess (do not use Kate , Charlene, or Grace...there are MANY princesses!) Write and illustrate a proverb depicting the princess you have chosen to research, and present it along with a biography of the Princess. There are links to information about the royal families of Europe on this page (scroll down the page toward the bottom to locate them).
For Spanish students and teachers:
7. Some ideas and activities for Spanish classes, cited with the author's permission (and using the Spanish edition of the book) are located here .
